“I have not proved them.”
So said a young David when Saul offered him accoutrements of war which Saul himself had as likely experienced some good repute with.
To every individual it shall be on an experiential level what they discard or keep in the battle of life to implement, go forth.
There is a correlation between the comfort and security one is enhanced with when considering what one will tote into the fight.
As a young man when faced with a situation which would demand a physical response I tended to prepare myself beforehand. In all those cases I fared well because of preparation.
Boxers and MMA folks tend to watch videos of upcoming opponents.
It is expedient to create a sense of comfort and security when facing a trying situation. The task of dispelling the obvious anxiety.
Yes of course you have the superstitious which do the same thing with rabbit feet, etc..
But such things are not sound.
But what I wish to point out here is Anxiety.
How easily it gets invoked by the upcoming. What event lies before us which invokes and fills us with anxiety.
A school test, a speech, a social event….
I was at a time paralyzed by public speaking.
My beloved Brother-in-law (funny how they don’t become ex after a marriage ends) said these words to me, “I usually don’t encounter difficulty depending on how well I believe in what subject I will be addressing.”
This opened up the door for me. It was, to me, a matter of familiarity.
If I became familiar with the material to the point where I didn’t have the pop up demons, pointing fingers at me and snickering, then I will have done my best.
The pop up demons were all in my head. The perfectionist in me. Demanding excellence. But it wasn’t really excellence he demanded.
It was “esclavitud” Bondage.
It is the same thing which keeps one from trusting in Christ.
The Void which Adam handed down to us, demanding perfection to take the place of the Absent Loving, accepting, Spirit of God.
So the lesson is simple and one of practice, experience; I have not proved them (David).
Anxiety is invoked relative to our inheritance from Adam, and that needs to be confronted with our inheritance from Christ which means deliverance from the bondage of the Void, which demands a substitute for the Spirit of God. That substitution is “Perfection” which totes criticism, self consciousness, a lack, a debt unpaid.
You as a child of God, know that debt was paid at the Cross.
